If your home backs onto bushland or a reserve anywhere on the Northern Beaches, termites are worth getting ahead of rather than waiting to discover. The timber-framed houses and gum-lined streets across the area give subterranean termites what they look for: moisture, cover, and timber to feed on. NEXTGEN Pest Control provides termite control across Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore, with same-day and emergency bookings and a free quote on 1300 454 418. Owner-operator Anthony Fryer attends every job himself, so the licensed technician who inspects your home is the one who treats it.

    What termite treatment involves

Effective termite control starts with a proper inspection, not a spray. Anthony inspects the property to AS 4349.3, the Australian Standard for timber pest inspection, checking for active termites, moisture problems, and the conditions that invite termites in before recommending anything. What the inspection finds decides the treatment, and for most homes there are two main approaches.

A chemical soil barrier treats the ground around and under the house with a liquid termiticide, creating a continuous treated zone that termites cannot cross undetected. NEXTGEN uses BASF Termidor, a non-repellent product that termites walk through without sensing, pick up, and carry back to the rest of the colony. Installed to AS 3660, the Australian Standard for termite management, a barrier defends the building itself.

A baiting system works the other way. In-ground stations of BASF Trelona are set around the property, foraging termites feed on the bait, and they pass it through the colony until the colony collapses. Baiting suits homes where digging a full barrier is difficult, and it keeps monitoring for termites long after the first treatment. In short, a barrier defends the building while baiting sets out to eliminate the colony. A properly installed barrier keeps working for years, and a bait system stays in the ground as ongoing protection.

Both Termidor and Trelona are applied strictly to their APVMA label directions, targeting termites while keeping the treatment low-toxicity to children, pets, and the surrounding bushland. That matters on the Northern Beaches, where reserves and native gardens sit right against the homes being treated. NEXTGEN also carries out standalone termite inspections, pre-purchase timber pest inspections before you buy a property, and pre-construction termite management for new builds and extensions.

    About NEXTGEN Pest Control

NEXTGEN Pest Control is a family-run business Anthony Fryer has operated from Cromer since 2023, serving the Northern Beaches and North Shore. Anthony holds NSW EPA Pest Management Technician Licence No. 5115417, issued in 2020 and carrying the Timber Pest Control endorsement that specifically covers termite work. The licence is valid to August 2028, and you can confirm it yourself on the NSW EPA public register.

Beyond the licence, Anthony is BASF-accredited across Termidor, Trelona, Seclira, and Selontra, holds a Certificate III in Urban Pest Management, and is fully insured with public and products liability cover. Every job is his own work from first inspection to final follow-up. That is what sits behind the 5.0-star rating NEXTGEN holds across 72 Google reviews: the person who quotes your termite job is the person who carries it out, and the one who comes back if anything needs a second look.

Common questions about termites in Sydney

How much does termite treatment cost in Sydney?

It depends on the property. The size of the home, the type of construction, how far the termites have spread, and whether the job calls for a full soil barrier or a baiting system all change the scope of the work. That is why NEXTGEN quotes every termite job after the inspection rather than over the phone, so the price reflects what is actually there. The inspection-based quote is free. Call 1300 454 418 to arrange one.

Do I need pest control for termites in Sydney?

For most homes on the Northern Beaches, yes. Subterranean termites are active right across the region, and any house near bushland or with timber in ground contact is a realistic target. A yearly inspection is the sensible minimum under AS 3660, because termites often work unseen for months before there is any visible sign. Finding them early is the difference between a treatment and a repair bill.

Can I get rid of termites myself?

It is very hard to do properly. Retail sprays kill the termites you can see and often scatter the rest, which just sends the colony to feed somewhere else in the home. The products that actually reach and collapse a colony, such as Termidor and Trelona baiting, are restricted to licensed use and have to be placed correctly to work. A disturbed nest that looks gone can keep causing damage out of sight, so a licensed inspection and treatment is the safer path.

    What kills termites immediately?

There is no honest quick fix that wipes out a whole colony on contact. Surface sprays knock down the termites they touch, but the nest lives underground and keeps going. Lasting control turns the termites' own behaviour against them: a non-repellent barrier like Termidor, or a bait like Trelona, is carried back through the colony so the whole nest is dealt with, not just the ones in view. It is slower than a spray, and it is what actually protects the home.

Is termite damage covered by insurance in Australia?

Almost never. Standard home and contents policies in Australia treat termite damage as preventable, so they exclude it, which is exactly why prevention is worth the effort. A current termite management plan and regular inspections are what stand between your home and a repair bill no insurer will cover. NEXTGEN can put that protection in place and keep it current.
